Norman Arthur Rockford age 66 passed away on June 4th 2017 in Phoenix Az following a courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia. He was the son of Edwin Sulo Saari and Sylvia Hedvig Rajala Saari. Although extremely proud of his Finnish heritage, in keeping with ancient Finnish practice, Norm thought nothing of changing his name and did so several times. He finally settled on Rockford, as “everyone could spell it and pronounce it!”
Norm was very much a “self made man”, taking some business classes in college then going on to multiple successful business ventures. He developed land in Washington state, always looking for timbered land, bought and sold real estate contracts, flipped houses before it became popular on television and did investments as well as managing his rental properties. Although the Lewy Body took so much from Norm, he somehow retained his ability to make accurate business decisions as this was deeply ingrained in him.
He is survived by wife Janice Rockford, of Yuma Arizona, daughters Krista Mantica (Jacob) Kassi Sefton (Royal), and Alicia Ennen. Sons Eddie and Micah Norlin, Steve Ennen, and a much loved nephew, Alex Thompson (Caty). Granddaughters Kirstie, Emily and Sammie Onwiler, Keira Sefton and grandson Drew Sefton. Brother Jim Baggiore of Phoenix Arizona, sisters Janice Harsh and Carol Knox of Pt. Angeles Washington, and multiple nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother Ken Saari and his parents.
Private family services are pending.
