I met Dr Pathak in 2005 when I joined Marshall.  He was easy to like and easy to respect.  Even now, I am still seeing patients that I have to inform of his passing and they are always saddened to hear of this loss.  His impact on this community will be felt for decades.

I just learned of Dr. Pathak's passing.  My sincere condolences to his family.  I enjoyed meeting with him, he was always pleasant and kind.  He listened better than any doctor I've ever had and helped me immensely with my health issues.  One of a kind!!! 

I only just learned of Dr. Pathak's passing & wish to convey to his family my profound sympathy. I spoke to him many times, referred patients, asked for his advice & opinions. Our lives will be forever enriched for knowing Dr. Pathak.  I had the pleasure of working with him at Marshall Medical Center and he was the physician for my wife's and my daughter's neurological issues.  He was a tremendous comfort, guide, and caregiver when our family needed it most.  And he always added a bit of humor, with a smile on his face and a sparkle in his eye, that was most needed and welcome.  Two memories stand out for me that say much about the man and the doctor.  The first was when my wife needed care and I joined her in Dr. Pathak's office for her initial consultation.  We were trying to understand the scary episode that had put us into the Emergency Department a couple of days before.  Dr. Pathak looked at my wife and focused completely on her needs in the most sincere way I'd ever seen, a thoughtful skill that we really needed.   And then he explained neurology in a way we could understand and believe him when he said it would be alright.  The second was when Marshall and UC Davis entered into an agreement to work together.  There was a meeting of UCD and Marshall doctors where one of the UCD department heads told me that Dr. Pathak was one of the best physicians to ever go through the university.  It was easy to believe, given my own experience.  Our family will miss him and we wish his family the comfort that comes from what I'm sure are many wonderful memories of a truly great man and healer.

Our beloved Rajubhai was a great person. Very loving and soft spoken. We have seen him as an elder brother since childhood. We can’t believe that he has become the sweet memories for all of us.

Rajiv was an always witty, charming and positive person at Marshall Medical Center.  He was an astute diagnostician, and will be sorely missed.  It is truly impressive to see Rajiv's sphere of influence and the impact he has had on his family, his religious, and his professional communities. He has raised the bar for all of humanity.  We all should strive to leave such an impact on our world.

It is very hard to believe that Dr Pathak is not with us anymore. His smile and kind personality will always be remembered. He had a very affable nature and was always available, and knew everyone by name.  We had the pleasure of working with him for the past 5 years at Marshall.

I have known him since 2004, when I started working at Marshall Medical Center. While working as Hospitalist I came to know him much better. He had been hard working and had always been available. While working with him I realized that apart from being an excellent neurologist, great human being he also had several other skills, he has served and lead an Indian community for several decades. His unique sense of humor and smile will always be missed.

To achieve brilliance, success, Money and fame is rare but to remain warm hearted , friendly, 
is rarer.
We have lost a great friend, companion, Dr, by his untimely sudden exit.
We arranged a prayer meet at our town  Vyara yesterday which was attended by Pathak family and friends from Bardoli and Surat .
People from all walks of society attended 
To share grief with bereaved family.
All have shared common feelings and prayed to Almighty to give strength to bear this loss to Res . Sureshbhai , Mandaben Pathak, His wife Jayna and our sister Rita and family

Dr Pathak and I work ( hard to mention it in past tense) for Dignity Health .. brand logo.. Human Kindness. For displaying human kindness.. it is first essential to be HUMAN. Dr. Pathak showed and taught how can a person become .. a human. He has touched and savored so many hearts .. patients, families, colleagues, ancillary staff. 

His smile, wittiness, humor was par excellence. Will “miss you” is too little.. it is impossible to miss you since you will never leave our hearts. 

God give strength to your family and community. 

I had the great privilege of working with Dr. Pathak at Marshall Medical Center.  Most mornings he would arrive on our unit to see patients and never failed to visit with the nursing staff. He remembered our names and greeted us individually- and always with a smile and a little twinkle in his eye. His dedication to support our community was unparalleled.
I will miss him, my co-workers will miss him. My greatest condolences to his family- it overwhelms to think of this loss they are suffering.

I never even thought this could happen, and to my friend of many years who was still in his prime. We had laughs, shared good times, enjoyed each others' company, but that will be no more. He will continue to be in my memories, the good times, the fun times, all the times. These joys have slipped away as life changes as does time. It is a heavy load and heart as we go on. Life means nothing without family and friends. My love to him, Suresh uncle, Manda Auntie, Jayna, Sagar, and Sujay.

I have had the honor of knowing and working with Dr. Rajiv Pathak for over 15 years at Marshall Medical Center.  He was always smiling, had a great sense of humor,  and cared not only for his patients but also for his colleagues and staff as well.  He was always willing to help the community professionally or otherwise. 

We will miss him greatly, and  his presence will always be felt.  We offer our condolences to the family of Dr. Rajiv Pathak. 

Rajiv was truly a gem of a person. Always smiling, always available to help out. I have had the honor of knowing Rajeev since 2006. In all these years, I cannot recall even a single moment where he appeared stressed or unhappy. He enjoyed his work thoroughly and had the utmost work ethics.

I have had the privilege of knowing and working with Dr Pathak  for almost 15 years, both as a nurse at Mercy Folsom and as a Nurse Practitioner at Marshall Hospital. He always had a kind greeting to his colleagues,   was selfless in his care of his patients, and his gentle humour and smile will be missed profoundly.

Dr. Pathak cared for my daughter for 24 years.  This is a blow to his family but also to his patients.  He did his job well always.  No finer tribute is possible.  He did his duty to his patients always.  

I had the honor of working with Dr. Pathak at Marshall Medical Center for 12 years, as well as being a patient of his for a time.  He was such a kind man and never failed to have a smile and "hello" for us each day at work. Dr. Pathak will be greatly missed!

I am one of many honored and blessed people who can proudly say that they had a chance to know Dr. Pathak very well—inside, as well as outside, of the hospital.

Dr. Pathak was a brilliant, hardworking and caring physician. He had an unique intuition on how to take care of difficult patients, especially with his iconic smile and humor. His dedication and attention to each of his patients inspired many of us physicians to try to perform at his level. He was not only an irreplaceable colleague, but also a wonderful friend. The joy and laughter he poured into every one of his relationships will be sorely missed. His services will also be deeply missed by non healthcare as well as by Indian community.

As a hospitalist at Marshall Medical Center, I worked with Dr. Pathak for more than 10 yrs. He was well known for his positive attitude, charming personality, wittiness and funny jokes. He had a very sharp memory and always addressed everybody he met in or out of the hospital with their first name. I spent a countless number of hours with Dr. Pathak talking about our common patients, attending medical staff meetings and at social gatherings. He always gave a very sound and sincere advice regardless whether the issue was personal or professional. Rajiv earned my respect and trust not only for his expert opinion for my neurology patients but also as a mentor, colleague, leader, and a friend.

Dr. Pathak's passing is a huge loss for our community.  He was so dedicated to his patients and colleagues.  He worked tirelessly and always put our patients first to give them the best care that he could give.  We will miss him dearly.

As a patient of Dr Pathak I am very saddened to learn of his passing.  He has been my only neurologist since my MS diagnosis 13 years ago.   He has provided me with encouragement and compassion throughout the years.  I feel at a loss to hear of his passing.   He was such a kind man 

As an emergency physician and ER administrator, I worked with Dr. Pathak for almost 8 years. He was crucial in building and implementing our stroke care program at Marshall Medical Center, a much needed resource for our patients. Always available quickly by phone for questions, always pleasant no matter the hour and always willing to come see patients for the care they needed. His passing is a immense loss for our medical community and he will be missed greatly. 

As an Emergency Physician I consulted and worked along side Dr. Pathak many times, at all hours and on all days of the week.  He was for years the only Neurologist, yet was the most responsive and available consultant for our  patients of any of the Marshall Staff, taking calls from me and my partners even when he was out of town.  He once even answered a consult call from India.  I am so sad that our community has lost this incredible man.

His humor, his kindness to colleagues and patients, and his dedication to Medicine will be missed greatly.

From all of us at Gastroenterology Medical Clinic, we mourn his sudden passing and extend deep and sincere condolences to his family.  

He was... a GOOD man.

I worked with Dr. Pathak years ago. He ALWAYS had a smile on his face whenever he came to consult in our ER, no matter what time of day it was. As a nurse, I'm usually full of questions, but he always took the time to answer them patiently, never seeming rushed. He greeted me by name whenever he saw me and joked cheerfully with our staff. He was one of the only doctors I know who carried the old fashioned medical bag. He taught me things over the years, helping me to be a better nurse, and was a real joy to work with. I'm so sorry to see he has passed. Our medical community has truly lost a great man.

Sincere condolences to the Pathak family . I had interacted with Dr. Pathak as my father was his patient. My family felt really lucky to have him as my father's neurologist as he treated him with same love and respect as one would treat his own father.  Dr. Pathak was truly a very skilled doctor and a kind and caring person.  May his soul rest in peace!

Shocked and deeply saddened to hear this news.  There are many profound memories of Rajivji during India day preparations and celebrations, over the last 10+ years.  He always carried a smiling face and always provided leadership through consensus.  He always worked and approached to issues with an open mind. 

He will be dearly missed by Indian community and Gujarati community of Sacramento and to all of those who were working closely with him for India Day events. 

Rajivji, you have switched places and we know you will be there and be with us.
