Robert H. Jones of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away on January 30, 2025, at the age of 92. Born in Seattle, Washington in 1932, Robert served in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 to 1956, marrying his first love, Clare Ann Myers in 1956. For several years, the young couple fostered children who were awaiting adoption. Two of these children, Richard and Susan, were adopted in 1963. Over the next decade, Robert and Clare Ann bore an additional seven children. During this time, the Jones Family resided on several Indian Reservation communities in Oregon and Washington; Robert worked as a realty specialist for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Robert and his family moved to Arizona in 1974, where he would continue his work with the BIA in its Western Regional Office in Phoenix. After nearly thirty years of service as a civil servant with the BIA, Robert retired, and within a short time, was employed with the Gila River Indian Community in Sacaton, continuing his professional service as a realty specialist for many more years.
Robert and Clare Ann spent the better part of five decades volunteering their time and service to St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church in northwest Phoenix. Robert served as Eucharistic Minister, Lector, and Minster of Communion. Together, Robert and Clare Ann visited sick and ailing parishioners in their homes, hospitals, and nursing homes. After the passing of Clare Ann in 2009, Robert married Dolores Skeivik in 2015, bringing two large families together to celebrate with him his love for Family and his abiding faith in God and the Church.
