Rodolfo (Rudy) W Mortensen passed away 14 February, 2017 at Phoenix, AZ. Rudy was born 6 July, 1927 at Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. He grew up in El Paso, TX and attended Austin High School. Following high school, he served an honorable full-time church mission in Mexico. He later served his country by enlisting in the Army during World War II and served as a guard of German prisoners in Fort Bliss, TX. Rudy moved to Phoenix where he met his eternal companion Joanne B Mortensen wife, who preceded him in death. Rudy worked in the optical business many years and owned Vista Laboratories.
He served in many capacities in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints including Phoenix East Stake President, Temple President in Lima Peru and Buenos Aries, Argentina as well as Mexico Torreon Mission President. He also served in general church callings as an Area President and Regional Representative in Mexico. Rudy is survived by his children Lee Ann Mortensen (spouse Toni) and David Mortensen (spouse Valerie) Grand children Justin, Jake, Jesse Mortensen, Jamie Hawkes Great-grand child Henry Hawkes Siblings Elvia Wayman, Jay Mortensen, James Mortensen, Lisa Davis, Rey Mortensen Sr, Robert Mortensen, George Mortensen
