Russell James Brooks

He was born in Iron Mountain, MI, the 4th of 5 children. Russ was blessed with musical talent from a young age. He took piano and organ lessons, where he excelled. He loved to entertain by keeping family and friends laughing with his quick wit and jokes. Summers were spent at the lake cottage, a gathering place for family and friends - many fond memories were made there.

The family moved to Phoenix, Arizona, in 1970, where he finished school. He graduated from Paradise Valley High School in 1975. After high school, he began working for Honeywell for 25 years. His passions were music, where he entertained everyone with a mean boogie woogie beat. Spending time with family and friends in the outdoors. Caring for animals, especially riding his beloved horse Tinker. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jarvis and LaVerne Brooks, brother-in-law Mike Duffy, and nephew Anthony Vos. Russ is survived by his brother Rocky Brooks (Debbi) and sisters: Joan Duffy, Jean Murphy (Jim), and Nancy Lapp (Rick). Nephews: Tom and Randy. Nieces: Kristen, Roxanne, Rachel, and Ivy.

Services for Russ will be held at Shadow Mountain Mortuary on Wednesday, October 22nd, 2025, at 11:00 AM.

A celebration of life will be held in Michigan at a later date.
