Ruth “Colleen” Allman, 93 years young, passed away on February 16, 2026, in Phoenix Arizona. Colleen was born in Nellie, Ohio, to John “Russell” Bowers and Leona Oneita (Neldon) Bowers on September 17, 1932. She married the love of her life, Allen Leo Allman, of Coshocton, Ohio, on July 12, 1952. They would go on to have a one-of-a-kind love story and were fortunate enough to celebrate their 72nd Anniversary in 2024, and came very close to making it to their 73rd, before Allen passed in June, 2025. During their life, Colleen and Allen traveled the country in their RV, often visiting the many friends they made during Allen’s time in the Navy; took several cruises, and experienced their “trip of a lifetime’ touring throughout Europe. Colleen loved her family, especially the babies; took great pride in her home (and her hair), always enjoyed the beautiful yard Allen created for them, and loved taking photos of sunsets and flowers, AND eating anything chocolate! Colleen was known to her family as a fairly reserved woman, but she could also fish better than anyone! And her kids remember that as a younger woman she also bowled, loved playing softball, and hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon with Allen…quite the feat for anyone.
Colleen is survived by her very special sister Joan Fitch, of Coshocton, Ohio. After their mother passed when they were very young, they leaned on each other, and were best friends throughout their lives; even taking a trip together to Hawaii in the middle of a hurricane! Colleen is also survived by her loving children, daughter, Debbie Allman, of Phoenix, AZ; son, Rick Allman(Joy Masterson), of Phoenix, AZ; and daughter Patty Bell (Steve),of Lima, Ohio; 3 granddaughters Angie Abbott(Sal Franco), Skye Allman(Tony Baldridge) and Sara Hiett(Jay), 4 grandsons Benn Librizzi (Holly White), Chad Librizzi (Jessica), and Izack Nielsen, and Richard Masterson, 6 great-granddaughters Brianna Gauvin (Dave), Aspen Taylor (Jason), Abigail Librizzi, Ariel Librizzi, Amaya Librizzi and Letty Hiett, 5 great-grandsons Jacob Allman, Zack Marron-Librizzi, Giovanni Librizzi, Kaleb Librizzi, and Myles Hiett; and 2 great-great-granddaughters Ruby Taylor and Lyla Gauvin. Colleen is also survived by two sister-in-laws, Nancy Swaggard of Louisville, Ohio, and Uleta Allman of Columbus, Ohio.
Colleen was also preceded in death by 1 granddaughter Staci, 1 grandson Ricky, 1 great-granddaughter Trinity, and 1 great-grandson Brendon, a loving daughter-in-law Denise, and two brothers, Russell Kanuckle and his wife Eloise, and Paul Kanuckle and his wife Marilla, and brother-in-law Raymond Fitch and several nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
A visitation for Colleen will be held Monday, March 2, 2026 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Phoenix Memorial Park and Mortuary, 200 West Beardsley Road, Phoenix, Arizona. A Funeral Mass will occur Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, 3220 W Greenway Rd, Phoenix, Arizona with graveside services following Mass at 12:30 PM, at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, 23015 Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, Arizona.
