

Shelby Jean Barcus, beloved mother, sister, cousin, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother, went to be with the Lord on July 6, 2021 in Glendale after a 5 year courageous battle with Myelodysplastic Syndrome. Shelby was born in Waterloo, Alabama on September 30, 1938 to Dewey and Alpha (Craven) Eaves. Her family moved to Phoenix in 1948 where she attended Isaac Elementary School and graduated from West Phoenix High School in 1956. Shelby started work with Mountain Bell Telephone in 1960 and retired in 1999 with 39 years of service. Shelby will always be remembered as a fiercely independent fun loving free spirit and a loyal friend to all that knew her. She loved to watch classic old movies, interior decorate, buy clothes, shop antique stores, play Bunco with friends and buy more clothes. She leaves behind sons Barry (Judy), Bret (Gina), grandchildren - Brandon, Courtney (Cory), Brendon and Seth; great grandchildren - Rylan, Lennon, Hadley, Delaney, and Hayden; siblings - Lois, Ken, and Bonnie (Luney). She was preceded in death by her son Bart and brother Don. The family thanks all who touched Shelby's life during her final days, especially the caregivers at Stoneridge Hospice, The Perfect Companion and Crystal Ridge assisted living. Funeral Service is at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery Serenity Chapel, 2300 W. Van Buren, Phoenix, 85009, Saturday, July 10, at 11AM. Visitation will precede service between 9AM-11AM.
