Sondra “Sandy” Lynette Werner was a beloved grandmother, mother, wife, sister, and friend during her incredible 75 years of life. She passed away surrounded by her family in the afternoon hours of Saturday, August 19, 2023.
Sandy was born on July 14, 1948, in Garden City, Kansas to parents Isaac and Mary Cook. Sandy grew up in Ellsworth, Kansas and was the oldest of four children. In 1958, the family moved to Phoenix, Arizona. This is where Sandy lived most of her life. She attended Skiff Elementary School and Phoenix Union High School. She met her husband Harley here, she raised her family here, and she lived an amazing life here.
Sandy loved passionately and lived vibrantly. She loved adventure and loved to dance. Sandy was patient, nurturing, full of wisdom, generous, resilient, and loved unconditionally. She treated everyone with grace and kindness and always went out of her way to help those in need. More than anything else in this world, Sandy loved her family. If you were to ask her, she would say her family was her greatest accomplishment and the thing she was most proud of. She loved being Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma.
Sandy was predeceased by her parents Mary Cook, Isaac Cook and her Husband, Harley Werner. She is survived by her sons Jon Werner (Wendy), and Carl Werner (Jeannie), her sisters Kathy Dalgord and Karla Hockersmith, and her brother Scott Cook. She leaves behind her six grandchildren: Tarah, Shelby, Hailey, Megan, Tatum, and Clayton; and her six great-grandchildren: Mariettah, Brody, Kyson, Ariella, Camdyn, and Jalaya. She also leaves behind many extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
