Thomas Blocker of Glendale, AZ, age 84, passed away peacefully at home with family at his side.
He was born in Chicago, Illinois. He served in the Marines, was on the Chicago Police Department, and was an entrepreneur where he had many businesses. Two of which were near and dear to his heart: Blocker Interiors and Twin Pines Senior Living, both of Oak Forest, IL. He was especially proud of providing services to those in need at Twin Pines, (where he retired from shortly before moving to Arizona in 2005).
He was a caddy in his teen years and loved playing golf. He earned many achievements in his golf career which were recognized nationally. He was also an animal lover and had many beloved pets throughout his life. Most recently a local feral cat colony benefited from his care and protection.
Tom is survived by his ex-wife and friend, Hyacinth J. Goddard of Sun City, AZ, his three children: Hyacinth A. Janecyk and Mark A. Blocker of Illinois and Jennifer Blocker of Glendale, AZ. Grandfather of Melissa, Jessica and Patricia. Great Grandfather of Natalie. He is survived by several siblings, cousins and many nieces and nephews.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Marion Blocker and siblings from Chicago, IL.
He will be missed. A memorial service will be scheduled in his final resting place in The National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, in Phoenix.
A remembrance statement read, “With Tom being a Marine and a Chicago Police Officer, it is appropriate and an honor that he was born on the 4th of July and died on Sept. 11th. Rest in peace, Tom.”
