I just found out about my dear friend Walt passing away. I have been away from Amex since May of 2013 fighting my own health issues and had no idea of Walt's passing. I will miss him deeply but know he went home to be with the Lord and my thoughts and prayers go out to Bert and the family. Walt will always be an inspiration to me and be in my thoughts forever.

Its so hard to realize such a presence in this life is now gone.
Walt was my second cousin, but to me he was always my Uncle Walt.
He was sweet, kind, loving, emotional, and always had an arm to put around you when you needed it.
He will be deeply missed.

I am very Sorry to hear. I had the pleasure of working Walt on a case for AmEx. last year. He was the most positive man I have ever met. He told of his cancer but I would have never guessed he was ill. he seemed not at all phased by it. 

I only met him once but that one meeting left me with a man I will never forget.

My sincerest condolences to his family. May he rest in peace.

I had the pleasure of working with Walt at American Express. Not only was he a co-worker but also a friend! There is no one who loved their job and the company they worked for more than Walt did. He always had a smile on his face and had a great way of bringing up the spirit of those who were down.  Walt loved his family and God bigger than the universe and he very proudly showed it. Walt sure was a fine man who never ever gave up and will be greatly missed. Heaven has gained a true GEM!! Bless you in your eternal life Walt and much love to the Gibbs Family.

So very sorry to hear of the loss of Walt Gibbs. We worked together at American Express for quite a while. 
He is now free of pain, at peace & resides in a new paradise. May our good lord watch over him always.

I had the pleasure of working with Walt for many years.  I remember how helpful and kind he was to me. I truly believe that he was an ICON here at Amex.  I always appreciated the time and care he gave to everyone who he came I contact with.  My Family and I were fortunate enough to have several camping and boating adventures with Walt and his family. Although it's been many years- he left an impression on my young kids for always being so fun and inclusive.  It's easy to see that Walt's dedication to his family, church and friends made us all better and kinder people.  He was a gentleman through and through and we were all blessed to spend time with him.   My thoughts and prayers to everyone in Walt's family.

Our condolences to your family. We both knew Walt for over 25 years. He kept his humor during his ailments. I remember him saying they inserted a zipper in his chest for easier access. Our thoughts are with you.

I had the honor to work with Walt for many years when first  coming to American Express, he was always willing to help anyone out, he was unique and had a wealth of knowledge he was always willing to share. he had a heart of gold and I feel fortunate to have know him, he will be  missed

I worked closely with Walt Gibbs for 6 years.  I can say that he was an extraordinary gentleman.  Not many men like him.  He was a joy.  Every day we would laugh and talk of important things, the kind of things that people take for granted.  He knew what it meant to be blessed.  I will never forget those years.  I have worked here for 16 years and I have not met anyone else like him.  I will always have fond memories of our time together.

I know personally Walt was for me an inspirational  man who persevered through his own long and painful health battles and still found the strength to council those through their often terminal illnesses.  He was a shining example to me of both personal and professional integrity. He still called me infrequently for assistance and I was always more than happy to help, anything I could do to help reduce his burdens was a pleasure for me.
