Wilma was born on a farm in 1927 in Howard County, Iowa. She was the ninth of 10 children born to Otto and Elizabeth Burmeister.
When Wilma was a young girl, she was lured to the Valley of the Sun. She was employed by Sears, Roebuck, and Company, where she met Charles Hampton. After they married, she worked for Motorola at 52nd Street and McDowell Road, for 30+ years. Wilma had a deep love for God and His people. She also had a love for His creations, birds, flowers and animals. She loved to play the piano and sang with all her heart poured into the music.
Survivors include her son, Steven and Barbara Hampton, of Scottsdale, AZ; granddaughter, Katy and Andy Roberts and their son Declan, of St. Louis, MO. She was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and their children who kept in contact with her and were an important part of her life.
Wilma married Charles E. Hampton in 1955, in Phoenix, AZ. Mr. Hampton passed away on September 1, 1967. Wilma married Wayne Ryan of Wickenburg, AZ, in 1989. Mr. Ryan passed away the same year. Wilma married Quincy Grover of Phoenix, AZ in 1991. Mr. Grover passed away in 2004.
She was well-loved and will be missed.
In lieu of flowers please consider donations to a local animal shelter. She was particularly fond of cats. If there is a way to direct a donation toward the feline species, you can do so knowing it would have put a smile on her face.
