Six Mile, South Carolina - Charlotte "Ann" Miller passed early February 22, 2021 of cumulative health problems but not of Covid. Ann was born 01-30-1945 at Fort Stewart Military Base in New Windsor, New York and grew up as an army "Brat." Her father, a Colonel in the US Army, after the Second World War served in Taiwan, Japan and Austria in Europe. She carried to her end an Austrian accent. She was a student at Pueblo High school in Tucson, Arizona and at the University of Arizona. She married Robert Walker Miller Jr. June of 1966 and moved to Southeastern Pa. where her first daughter Elizabeth Ann Miller (Wiggins) was born in 1968 and where Walker got his PhD. They moved to South Carolina in 1970 ending up in Clemson with her husband working as a pathologist for Clemson Univ. Extension. Many were the happy hours she spent at Six Mile school, Daniel High and horse shows cheering her daughters on...many were the happy hours working with the Six Mile Women's Club eventually serving as president.
Ann and Walker bought land on Lake Keowee in 1971 in SC and it was her lifelong project to make it a home for her family not just a house. It took 4 years for them to build their home. The term "Sundowner" had meaning for them. She worked for Clemson in incubation and hatchery where she loved her work, from ostriches to the smallest chicken. In 1982 they had their second daughter Merion Zoe Miller. She planted Blueberries in February while pregnant with Zoe on their farm The Happy Berry. Zoe was her pride and joy. Ann was a women to "ride the river with" making decisions on the fly. They wanted to build a farm for their community and for her children should anything "go south." Many was the happy hour she spent at farmers markets with Zoe, Walker and vendor friends and customers. They were more friends than customers and she was their "Farmer" like your dentist or doctor and she treasured that role.
"Momma Ann" loved her family beyond measure and was loved by her family beyond measure. She is survived by her husband Walker, daughters Betty Ann (Mark) and Zoe, twin brother Charles See (Patti), brother Ken See (Deb), sisters Barb Wilson and Lucille Walker, sisters-in-law Patti & Libby Miller, granddaughter Sahara B. Wiggins, and all of our much loved extended family on both the See and Miller sides of the family tree.
Dillard Funeral Home is assisting the Miller family.
A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday, May 2, 2021 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at the family's farm The Happy Berry, Six Mile, South Carolina 29682.
