Mrs. Quarles was born on April 25, 1937 in Anderson, SC to the late Arvel Buren and Mabel Crocker Pettit. She grew up in Walhalla, SC and retired from Pickens Elementary as the Lunch Room manager where she positively impacted the lives of many students and co-workers. Mrs. Quarles was a member of East Pickens Baptist Church where she assisted in the 2 year old Sunday School Class, and helped prepare meals for bereaved families. After retirement, she enjoyed going on beach trips with her sisters and their families, dining out and visiting with friends, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Mrs. Quarles is survived by her daughter: Lisa Pearman (Terry) of Easley, SC; her son: Chuck Quarles (Angela) of Buford, GA; her brothers: Arvel Pettit (Geri) of Walhalla, SC and Leland Pettit of Walhalla, SC; her two grandchildren: Brandon Quarles (Amelia) and McKenzie Colonna (Alex); and two great-grandchildren: Adalyn Colonna and Lucy Quarles. She is also survived by a special "Surrogate Daughter": Sharyn Phillips (David).
In addition to her loving husband and her parents, Mrs. Quarles was preceded in death by her sisters: Remel Oliver, Rilla Stancil, Mary Braddock, and Betty Jo Moore.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 30, 2023 in the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home with interment to follow at Oconee Memorial Park in Seneca, SC.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 10:45 on Thursday, prior to the service, at Dillard Funeral Home.
The family is at their respective homes.
