Glen "Hap" Allen West

21 October, 1947 – 17 February, 2026
IN THE CARE OF

Dillard Memorial Funeral Home & Hillcrest Memorial Park

Pastor Glen Allen West, lovingly known as “Hap” to his family and friends, age 78, entered Glory just after 10 a.m. on February 17, 2026. He passed peacefully, surrounded by some of his dearest loved ones, including his brother, his sweet daughter, and his beloved wife.

Born on October 21, 1947, in Newark, Ohio, to Kenneth and Esther (Belt) West, Glen spent his early life on the family’s farm near Glenford.

He graduated from Sheridan High School and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree, followed by a Master’s in Educational Administration from Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina.

Glen loved telling the story of how he and his wife met: “We met in the church nursery!” He and Pamela (Morrison) West grew up going to church together. Though Hap tried to impress Pam with his driving skills and playful mischief, it was his genuine kindness and sweet sense of humor that won her heart. They married on June 14, 1968, and shared a wonderful, enduring marriage filled with love and laughter.

Throughout his life, Glen sought to glorify his God. He began his career teaching fourth grade at Santa Rosa Christian School, then spent a few years dairy farming alongside his brother, “Mugs.” He served with dedication as the administrator of Licking County Christian Academy for 35 years, pouring himself into the lives of students, parents, faculty, and staff. Later, he continued his ministry as pastor of Linnwood Baptist Church in Amsterdam, Ohio, for nearly 10 years.

Hap was a gifted artist. While he could draw and paint beautifully, his most cherished and admired works were his “Chalk Talks”—unique presentations of Christian chalk art that always pointed audiences to Christ in memorable, heartfelt ways.

To know Glen was to love him. He never met a stranger and had a way of making any room feel warmer simply by being present. He loved spending time studying God’s Word. He enjoyed traveling with his sweetheart, painting, hunting, golf, and—above all—spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Esther West; his sisters, Jane Dodge and Carol Sue Young; his sister-in-law, Sharon West; his brother-in-law, Kenny Daniels; and his great-grandson, Samuel DalPorto. Glen is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Pamela (Morrison) West; his brother, George (Dianne) West; his sister, Donna Jean Daniels; his daughter, Sheri (Andrew) DalPorto; his son, Jeremy (Nancy) West; nine grandchildren, Kaitlin (Jaazaniah) Cofer, Joshua (Hannah) DalPorto, Caleb (Jess) DalPorto, Matthew (Savannah) DalPorto, Nathanael & Benjamin DalPorto, David, Micah, & Oliver West; great-grandchildren, Jack, Grace, & Barrett Glen DalPorto, Kezia & Ezra Cofer, Adaline, Judah, & baby DalPorto; and many nieces and nephews.

God has been so kind and gracious to the family amid this profound loss. They grieve with hope, knowing Hap is now in Heaven because of their kind Savior. For those who are also in Christ, this is only a temporary goodbye—they look forward to the day they will reunite to praise their Savior together in glory. Glen’s greatest desire, even through his cancer journey, was that his life would point everyone to his Heavenly Father.

The funeral service for Rev. West will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Faith Baptist Church, 461 Saco Lowell Rd, Easley, SC 29640, with visitation prior to the service starting at 10:00 am, Pastor Tom Fuller officiating.
