Born in Greenville on January 3, 1941, Jane was the daughter of the late Grace Craig Taylor and Hayne W. Kinard. She graduated from Greenville High School in 1959 and earned a degree in Home Economics from the University of Tennessee in 1963.
In 2006, Jane retired from the Greenville County School District, where she had served as an assistant to the superintendent and liaison to the Board of Trustees.
After retiring, Jane married her longtime friend, Bob Ragan, now her husband of 20 years. Together, they enjoyed exploring the Eastern Coast by boat. They split their time between the Florida in the winter and Lake Keowee in the summer.
Jane was an avid gardener and renowned in her community for her beautiful garden. In fact, her garden was so admired that it was named in her honor.
She is survived by her loving husband, Bob Ragan; her son, Taylor Wells; her stepdaughter, Elizabeth Ragan; her sisters, Martha Johnson and Nancy Horton; and her beloved fur baby, Jackson. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Jane was predeceased by her son, Gene Wells.
A private family service will be held.
