Mrs. Mary Anthony Childs

Pickens – Mary Anthony Childs, 78, wife of Dean R. Childs for 59 years, went to be with the Lord on Friday August 24, 2018. Born in Pickens she was the daughter of the late Roy and Evelyn Anthony.

Mrs. Childs loved her Lord and was a member of Griffin Baptist Church where she served as assistant organist and enjoyed singing in the choir. She retired from the City of Pickens, where she served as Clerk/Treasurer for 25 years.

Survivors include her husband, Dean Childs, a daughter and best friend Susan Redding (David) of Pickens, her twin sister Martha Hendricks (Merle) of Pickens and four brothers Roger Anthony (Erin) of Liberty, Robert Anthony (Cindy) of Pickens, Ricky Anthony (Peggy) of Pickens and David Anthony (Nancy) of Greenville.

Grandchildren include Stephanie Childs, Kasey Abercrombie (Jeff), Matthew Redding and Logan Redding. Great grandchildren, Stephen, Michael, Alexis, Charlee, and Taylor.

Mrs. Childs was predeceased by her son, Stephen Childs.

The family will receive friends at Dillard Funeral Home on Tuesday August 28, 2018 from 1:30 to 3:15 PM with funeral services following in the funeral home chapel at 3:30PM with The Reverend Mark Bernshausen officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
