Mary Katherine Millwood

Ms. Mary Katherine Stuart Millwood, age 90, wife of the late Rev. Pete J. Millwood, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 23, 2025 in Fort Payne, Alabama. Katherine was born on June 12, 1934 to the late Claud and Ollie Smith Stuard of Spartanburg, SC and was one of twelve siblings.

Katherine married Pete Millwood on August 29, 1952, and they were blessed with four children. When Mr. Millwood was called into the ministry, she served beside her husband at several United Methodist churches in Upstate South Carolina. Upon his retirement, they joined Grace United Methodist Church in Pickens, SC. Throughout the years, she was active in church groups as well as senior groups. Katherine also worked in retail and retired from Bi-Lo, Inc. Her Christian life and love of the Lord was as lovely as the flowers and plants she enjoyed throughout her home and in her yard. She also was an avid reader and enjoyed completing word puzzles.

Her life will always be cherished and remembered by her survivors. Surviving children include Kenneth Millwood (and his wife Sharon) of Sunset, SC, Johnny Millwood (and his wife Brenda) of Six Mile, SC, Susan Johnson (and her husband Fred) of Rainsville, AL. Katherine’s seven grandchildren that she adored include Kenna Chandhok (and her husband Ollie) of Frisco, Texas, Benjamin Millwood (and his wife Tracey) of Flowery Branch, GA, Stephen Millwood (and his wife Paula) of Six Mile, SC, Dustin Millwood (and his wife Kyla) of Six Mile, SC, Phillip Johnson (and his wife Page) of Rainsville, AL, Paige Williamson (and her husband Marcus) of Rainsville, AL, and Peyton Richey (and her husband Daniel) of Rainsville, AL. Additionally, Katherine delighted in seeing her precious great grandchildren: Olivia Chandhok, Ace Chandhok, Jeremiah Millwood, Brett Millwood, Tristan Millwood, Kaylin Millwood, Kylie Millwood, Tucker Johnson, Beau Johnson, Parker Williamson, Quinn Williamson, Clark Williamson, Ellis Richey, and Sarah Richey (arriving soon). Ms. Millwood was also blessed to have three surviving sisters: Kay Osment, Peggy Holden, and Inez Ramsey.

Katherine was predeceased by her loving husband Rev. Pete Millwood and infant son, Ronald Steven Millwood as well eight siblings: Frances Marie Stuard George, Claud Stuard, Jr, Alma Lee Stuard Taylor, Bobby D Stuard, Annette “Johnsie” Johnson, Nathan Henry Stuard, Charles Steward, and James Butch Stuard.

Public visitation will be on Thursday, February 27 from 9:45 a.m.- 10:45 a.m. at Dillard Memorial Funeral Home (2402 Gentry Memorial Hwy, Pickens, SC 29671). A graveside funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park (2410 Gentry Memorial Hwy, Pickens, SC 29671) at 11:00 a.m.
