Bob was born in Cateechee, South Carolina, on September 17, 1931, to the late Robert Carl and Minnie Odell Moore McGuire. He enjoyed worshiping his Lord and Savior at Brushy Creek Baptist Church and Pathway Church. He was passionate about sharing the gospel to everyone he came in contact with and was a mighty prayer warrior. Bob loved his country and proudly served in the United States Army on the front lines during the Korean War. Bob enjoyed playing baseball as a catcher in the mill leagues,where he affectionately earned the nickname "Chunk", watching Braves baseball, hunting and fishing with his sons and his grandchildren. What Bob cherished most was the time he got to spend with his family and friends.His life greatly impacted countless people. He will be missed by all those who knew him.
Bob was survived by his two sons: Mike McGuire (Kim) and Mark McGuire (LuAnne); three grandchildren: Hannah Burdette (Grady), James Howard McGuire (MaryBeth), and Caleb McGuire; three great grandchildren: Irvin James McGuire, Bowen Lewis McGuire, and Grady Stephen "Gray" Burdette III; and two siblings: Catherine Clayton and Tom McGuire (Marion).
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ruth Adele James McGuire.
A celebration of life is scheduled for Friday November 14, 2025 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 to 1:45 PM in the Garden Room.
A burial will take place with military honors at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens SC.
