Mr. Powell was born in Pickens, on September 16, 1940 to the late Clarence and Hattie Powell. He was a faithful member at Secona Baptist Church, where he served the church over the years in many roles. Mr. Powell served our country in the United States Army. He enjoyed being outside working around in the yard, messing with his cows, riding around on his tractors and watching the Atlanta Braves play baseball. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife of 52 years, Mr. Powell is survived by two children: Wally Powell and Susan Clark (Michael); four grandchildren: Tyler Clark, Wesley Clark, Keli Grace Powell, and Aubrie Powell; two sisters: Louise Duncan and Bonnie Reeves.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Powell was preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters: Earl Powell, Harold Powell, Leroy Powell, Doug Powell, Calvin Powell, Milford Powell, Charles Powell, Milton Powell, Wilma McWhorter, and Patsy Duncan.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday July 31, 2024, at 2:00 PM, in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home.
A visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00 to 1:45 in the Garden Room.
Mr. Powell will be entombed following the service at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
