William Earl “Red” Shelton, 66, passed from this life Sunday, July 27, 2014 at his home. Red was born in Pickens County, a son of Frances Holden Shelton and the late Marcus Vance Shelton. He was self-employed as a carpenter and attended Glassy Mountain View Baptist Church. Red was a U. S. Army veteran of Vietnam after serving two tours of duty. Survivors include his mother, Frances Shelton of the home, son, Wayne Shelton (Renee) of Pickens and step-children, Julie Marie Murphy of Easley and Mary Ann Sierra of Spartanburg and two grandchildren, Billy Wayne Shelton and Jack William Shelton. Also surviving are a brother and sisters, Darvis Shelton (Faye), Martha Belmore (Weldon), Juanita Pearson (Terry) all of Pickens and Mirenda Shelton of Easley and Marie Wilson (Ronnie) of Hendersonville, NC. The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:30 PM Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens with funeral services following in the funeral home chapel at 3:30 PM.
