On Wednesday, January 10, 2018, Betty went to her heavenly Home. Surrounded by her family, she took her last breath on earth and entered the nearer presence of the Lord Jesus Christ, whom she loved and served for many years. Loved ones waiting to greet her included her beloved husband (Jimmie), her parents (Harry and Blanche), a brother (Ted), two sisters (Gene and Pat), a son (Bob) , and many treasured extended family members. Celebrating her eternal life, but missing her on earth are a sister (Peg), three sons; Mick (Sally), Tom (Mary Taylor) and Ron, three amazing granddaughters (Lindsay, Claire, and Tiffany), a niece who was like a daughter (Jo Anne), and extended family on all the branches of the “tree,” each one special to Aunt Betty. She will also be missed by many friends and the extraordinary, gifted, and loving staff and residents of RoseCrest Assisted Living and UPMC Cranberry Place. Love and thanks to all.
Betty had been a math teacher for a few years before she devoted herself to raising her family…but she was always a teacher, a mentor, a counselor, a confidant, an encourager, and a role model. She taught by precept and example. She volunteered for various good causes because it was in her heart to honor God and bless people.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, from 4 pm until 8 pm at the H.P. Brandt Funeral Home, Inc., 1032 Perry Highway, Ross Township, (412-364-4444). Funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 AM in the sanctuary of Ingomar Church, 1501 W. Ingomar Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237. In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial gifts to Ingomar Church, or your own house of worship OR that you visit with someone in a nursing home. On-line condolences may be offered at www.brandtfuneralhome.com
