Carol Sue Fandozzi, 82, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 20th, 2025. Born in Pittsburgh on October 28th, 1943, Carol was the middle of three sisters and grew up surrounded by creativity and love. From an early age, her artistic spirit was evident—a gift inherited from her mother—and one that she nurtured throughout her life with quiet brilliance and dedication.
Carol pursued her passions at the University of Pittsburgh, where she studied Art and Psychology, earning her bachelor’s degree. It was there, in a college art class, that she met her soon to be husband, Andrew J. Fandozzi Jr. What started in that college classroom grew into a lifelong partnership, and together they raised two sons, Andrew and Kevin, who were the pride of her heart. Carol was preceded in death by her husband Andrew, her son Andrew III, and her sisters, Annette Mehldau and Dianee Suarez. She is survived by her brother in law, Craig Mehldau and two sister-in laws, Mary Jo Lipinski (Robert) and Jean Anne Raimond (Louis). Her nieces and nephews include Alex Keith, Jonathan (Brett) Lipinski, Brad Mehldau and Leigh Ann Markowski.
Carol’s artwork, especially her delicate and expressive watercolors, told the story of a woman who saw beauty in the world and shared it generously. Even in her later years, her creative spirit never dimmed—her final pieces, painted with grace and care, remain as lasting testaments to her inner spirit.
More than an artist, Carol was a devoted mother and a deeply cherished grandmother to Steven Fandozzi and Raynah Fandozzi. She found immense joy in watching them grow and flourish, just as she had nurtured so many lives with her love. Her gentle humor, her love of nature, her skill in quilting, her irresistible baked goods, and her loyal fandom of the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Pittsburgh Steelers brought color and comfort to those around her.
A retrospective of Carol’s artwork will be displayed during the viewing between 9 AM and 11 AM on April 27 at H.P. Brandt Funeral Home 1032 Perry Hwy. Pittsburgh, PA 15237. A celebration of life service will follow. All who knew her are welcome to attend and share in honoring her memory.
Carol will be laid to rest at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in McMurray, PA.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation or to a charity of your choice.
