

DOLORES “DOLLY” HELEN SOZANSKI, age 91, of Avalon, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 12, 2017. She was the wife of seventy years to Edward Sozanski; loving mother of Barbara MacIver and her husband Gregory of Dublin, Ohio, Carol Smith and her husband Greg of Jacobsburg, Ohio, and Robert E. Sozanski and his wife Linda of Bellevue; proud Grandmother, “Mia” to some, of Kristi Markins, Christine Hickey, Amy Geiger, Beth MacIver, Michelle Bevan, Kelsey Sozanski; and Great-Grandmother of A.J. Geiger, Ava Geiger, Giuliana Hickey, and Emma Nicole Bevan; sister of the late Donald Kujawski. Family and friends will be received on Friday, October 20th, 2017, from 1 pm until 3 pm and 5 pm until the time of service at 7 pm at the Orion C. Pinkerton Funeral Home, Inc., 1032 California Avenue, Avalon, (412-766-5600.) Inurnment will take place in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at a later date. Dolly was an educated and skilled woman who worked as a draftsman for the Civil Air Patrol after World War II before her marriage, and for Heyl & Patterson, Inc. after her years of motherhood and raising her family, as well as a return to college. She later achieved her real estate license, working for both Northwood Realty and Century 21. Known as “Dusty” to many Girl Scouts, her outstanding volunteer work included troop leadership, day camp administration, and council and district leadership for the Girl Scouts of Western Pennsylvania. She was an avid reader and a devoted Pittsburgh Penguins fan. Dolly’s achievements in this world will be remembered by her friends and family.
