Age 89, of McCandless, passed away October 1, 2010. Loving husband of the late Helen Swanson Maurer; son of the late Elmer Maurer, Sr. and Ruth (Jamison) Maurer; father of Elmer (Judy) Maurer III; grandfather of Eric J. (Marget) and Kirk J. (Rebbeca) Maurer; great grandfather of Andrew and Caroline Maurer; preceded in death by siblings, Walter Maurer, Ruth Hamilton and Myrtle Richards. Elmer was a former fireman for the City of Pittsburgh and former treasurer/manager of the Pittsburgh Firefighters Credit Union. He was a Navy veteran of WWII serving on the USS Corry before being sunk on D-Day. Friends will be received Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the H.P.
