Evelyn H. Morrison

On Monday, October 18, 2021, Evelyn Mae Herring Morrison was received into her Savior’s loving arms. Loving wife of James Edward Morrison Sr., beloved mother of James (Jane) of Clayton NC, Amy (Troy) of Baden PA, and Neil (Diana) of Chapel Hill NC; proud grandmother of James III (Alexis), Adam (Katherine), Zachary, Tyler (Alexis), Lauren (Trevor), Ian, Eva Caroline; sister of Wallace (Jane) Herring of Clinton, NC. Evelyn was born May 15, 1934 to Myra Lee James and Lorenzo Dow Herring near Clinton, North Carolina. Evelyn was predeceased by Eleanor Jane and Marvin Wade Herring. Evelyn graduated from Halls High School and Asbury College. She taught music and then desired to go to nursing school.

Evelyn graduated from Presbyterian University Hospital School of Nursing in Oakland, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Evelyn met James at the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church (North Side, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) and the two were married on October 23, 1959. Evelyn enjoyed reading, gardening, and cross stich, she made her children beautiful cross stich keepsakes that they will treasure forever.

Evelyn experienced the trip of a lifetime in 1982, when she joined her daughter Amy and toured Europe as a Registered Nurse to support a travelling youth symphony. Evelyn dearly loved the Lord Jesus Christ and maintained her strong faith throughout her lifetime.

Family and friends are welcome on Monday October 25, 2021 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at H.P. Brandt Funeral Home, 1032 Perry Hwy, Pittsburgh PA 15237 (412) 238-7134. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, 405 Frederick Ave, Sewickley, PA 15143. Burial will be at Allegheny County Memorial Park, 1600 Duncan Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15101. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
