

Age 92, of McCandless. James (Jim) went home to God on Saturday, March 18, 2023. Married to the love of his life, Theresa (DePasquale), for over 70 years and separated in death by only 26 days, he is united with Theresa forever and they are at peace. Born in Pittsburgh to the late Saverio and Rosa (Funaro) Ruperto. He was preceded by his siblings, Baby Frank, Frank, Josephine, and Joseph.
Proud father of James (Janet), Joseph (Barbara), and Maryann (Eric) Hilburg. He adored his family and treasured time with his grandchildren. He was affectionately called, Pup, Nonno, or Tadone, by his grandchildren, Steven (Carsen), Katherine, Cristina (Peter) Shaw, Jessica Owens, and great-grandchildren, Christopher, and Terra Marie, with whom he loved to dance and laugh. Jim is also survived by his sister, Virginia Ruperto, plus many beloved nieces and nephews.
Jim served in the armed forces from 1952 through 1954, then began working at the Duquesne Club, followed by Sun Drug Company, before retiring from West Penn Hospital.
He will be remembered for his beautiful blue eyes and his unique sense of humor. As an Italian of Calabrian descent, he loved to sing Italian folk songs. He was passionate about gardening and had the greenest yard, full of flowers and beautiful plants. He spent time listening to music, creating artwork, watching classic and silent movies, playing bingo, and watching boxing matches. Jim was a true Pittsburgher who loved the Steelers with great vigor. He regularly called family and friends to be sure they were watching the game and provide his opinion. He played the PA lottery regularly for the past 50 years ever hoping to hit the big one.
Jim lived his Catholic faith with a kind heart and will be missed by all whose lives he touched. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Vincentian Home for the care and love they gave to Jim.
