John A. Bayer, 87, of Avalon, formerly of the North Side, on Wednesday, January 4, 2012. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy. Loving father of June Riggs, Earl (Mimi) Bayer and Deborah (Chuck) Buggey; proud grandfather of Julie, Chuckie, Kristin, Rachel, Angela, Danny and two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his brothers and sisters Ermina, Walt, Delores, Martha and Edward. John served in the US Army during WWII and was a member of the military baseball team in St. Lucia.
Friends received Friday 2 to 8pm at the Orion C. Pinkerton Funeral Home, Inc., 1014 California Ave., Avalon. Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday 10am at the Church of the Assumption, 45 N. Sprague Ave., Bellevue. Interment to follow at Christ Our Redeemer Cemetery.
