Thankfully, we had the opportunity to get together while everybody was still relatively healthy. It was fun to reminisce at Bud and Joyce's home in Rockmere, and we certainly hold that memory dear. Dear Jeff, Randy & Buddy,
I'm so sorry for your loss. Wendy told me yesterday on Facebook. I spent the entire day wondering what happens to families that they lose touch for so long. As a child I remember thinking Aunt Martha was so beautiful with those high cheek bones and the way she always chewed her gum. When I was six I got to spend the night at her house, the night before the wedding, where I was the flower girl. She did my hair and made me feel so grown up. I never forgot how special that was. One act of kindness goes so far with a child. When microwaves first came out my family went to her house for brunch and she showed me how she could cook bacon in it. It didn't seem like it would cook properly, like on the stove, but when she had me taste it, it was good. We'd always go up the mountains when you were there so my dad could fish and hunt with you boys. Aunt Martha would take me for a walk up to the Boat Club or take me down to the river after we dug in that huge box full of sneakers. She always called me "Carol Ann", never "Carol". I loved that!
