Maryann (Honey) was born at Allegheny Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA on June 6, 1933, to Joseph and Cecelia Rozanski (deceased). She grew up on the North Side on Norman Street until she married Floyd (Peaches) Ellenberger. They lived in West View for many decades, first on Fordham then Brightwood Avenue. They later moved to Franklin Park. Honey and Floyd had been married for 60 years when he died in 2014.
She was the loving mother of Deborah Simmons-Badami (Sal Badami), Dalelynn Gray, and Denise Sheets (Matt Suffoletto); proud grandmother of Stacy Simmons (deceased), Stephanie Simmons Rossini (Brian Rossini), Tim Gray (Kristy), Tom Gray (Jamie Peters), and Rick Sheets, Jr. (Abbie); proud great-grandmother of Zoe Simmons, Rylee Gray, Logan Simmons, Brian Rossini, Jr., Chloe Simmons, Ethan Gray, Landon Gray, Charlotte Sheets, and Sullivan Sheets. She leaves behind her brother, Joseph W. Rozanski (Carole). Her sister, Joanne Pasquinelli, predeceased her. Honey was a favorite aunt to her many nieces and nephews.
For much of her career, she worked for the North Hills school district where she made many meaningful connections and developed many cherished friendships. She loved children and children loved her. She was the “lady on the block” with the house where every child went to play. Children could do no wrong in Honey’s eyes and they loved her for it.
Additionally, she loved getting her fortune read and knew the best person to do it. She loved doing her “angel cards” every day. This was a special treasure that she enjoyed and shared with others. She had a loving smile and a warm laugh that filled your heart. She will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by many.
The famiLy would like to thank the staff at the Remington of McCandless for helping to care for her in the few months prior to her death.
