I worked with Don in the San Jose Westgate post office, quite often we would socialize at his apartment off of Saratoga Ave and he was a bartender at Lyons restaurant on weekends. 

We only hung out for about 1 year and half, but he had a big impact on my memory and I was sad to discover he is no longer with us.  Don was a big personality and had a positive impact on many lives even back then.

Hey bubba, Remember 45 years ago, we were hanging out at Frontier Village. Those were the days. Love you, Wayne.

My time of friendship with Don extends from the to time he worked at the Stateline, NV post office on Kingsbury Grade with his witty jokes to the days he traveled the west collecting gold for refining to his days at the trailer on the Lake to his days in Glenbrook until his passing last December. Last November 2019 he asked me to go check out his dry cabin NV property and camp trailer at the ranch down near Bridgeport. He hadn't been there since that Summer. I could just feel Don was walking the property with me while I was taking in the view. The property was `so' much symbolic of Don's life. The creek that ran near the property that he fished, the cabin he took pride in, the beautiful mountain views from the property.

We had many great visits together, reminiscing about our love of Alaska.

Don, you may be gone from this earth but you live on forever in our hearts and our memories. Your spirit lives within us. 

Don was one of kind. If you were lucky enough to be his friend, he was the truest and kindest human being. Never my Love by the Association will always bring back cherished memories of our time together. I miss you. I love you my love.

My guess Don Ward is in the big cabelas in the sky !! Don loved to fish, camp , shooting, NASCAR,  Don taught me many things about life . He taught he how to fish and told the world's greatest jokes !!! You were my friend and mentor, You will never be forgotten  !!! 

Don was an off-the-grid kinda guy and would hate this post. But I want to honor the kind, thoughtful, life-engaged man he was until the very end. We love you. We miss you already. Rest in peace. You were the truest of friends.
