

Lived much of his life in Chicago, although 4 years of USN duty took him to Norfolk Virginia. Married Norma Jean Kiesow in August 1951. Upon completion of military duty in August of 1954 he attended Rochester Institute of Technology, earning a BS Degree in Printing. Upon graduation in 1957 he served as production manager of a printing company in Des Moines, Iowa. In 1960 he opted for a change, and became a Production Operator for WA Krueger Co. (a nationally known printer) in 1962 he was inducted into the Book Sales Division, and transferred from Wisconsin to Chicago where he worked until he retired in December 1987.
After retirement, he moved to Placerville to enjoy life and rural living in the area of the country which he had longed for over 40 years; having spent the summer of 1950 working as a firefighter. In 1993 he joined Diamond Springs Printing in an effort of love for the industry, and continued in this effort until January 2000 when he finalized his retirement.
He was dedicated to the printing industry, having spent 55 years in it. His customers were his prime interest while working and he strived to exude honesty and genuine interest in his customer’s concerns. He also was a card-carrying die-hard Cubs fan since 1938.
Nick loved his Lord, his wife and family, The Chicago Cubs, the printing industry and his customers, as well as caring for his property and home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Thomas of Las Vegas; a sister Bernice/Bettie of Placerville and a brother David of Houston. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Norma Jean, of Placerville, a daughter, Leona Rae of Illinois, and sons Donn of Iowa and Verne and Mark of Illinois along with their spouses, as well as ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A memorial service, conducted by Rev. Steve Dickerson, will be held at the Placerville Church of the Nazarene, 6040 Mother Lode Dr., Friday 2/18/2011 at 2:00 PM. Interment to be private.
