Harry was first of all my Dad's Boss. His name was Curtis Whisenhunt.Later when I was a teenager Harry became a mentor to me because he was a leader of the Youth Group at Federated Church.

Once a person made my  Mother cry. When Dad got home he heard the whole story and called that person. Dad told him in no uncertain terms
 that he was not to ever speak to his wife that way. Mother's name was Rachel Whisenhunt. Dad then told Harry what had happened. Harry sent Mother a bouquet of flowers.

When my husband I returned to take care of Mother the last three years of her life on earth Harry did something big but unexpected. He told me since I was an adult I could now call him Harry instead of Mr. Dunlop.

Harry was my "back of the church" buddy because we were both known to sneak out early on more than one occasion.  I was Heather's (his granddaughter) teacher in high school, so I had a connection to him even before we met.  I loved the twinkle in his eye and hearing his stories about his youth.  He was a humble man, so I did not realize until I read an article in the Mountain Democrat how accomplished and generous he was.  Prayers to Harry's family.

Harry was a friend, encourager and mentor in my career and life.  His  vision for and commitment to the people of El Dorado County is an inspiration for me and countless others.  Harry, I will miss our talks about the dream of NAWAPA.

"A gentleman is one who puts more into the world than he takes out."  Will miss seeing your sweet smile and twinkling eyes Harry.
