Sept. 26, 1943 – Sept. 2, 2013
Dan left this life on September 2 as a result of pancreatic cancer. He died peacefully in his home and in the company of loved ones. Predeceased by father Jim and nephew Sean, he is survived by and will be lovingly remembered by mother Dorothy and stepfather Glenn, wife of 35 years and best friend Carol, son Ward and daughter Wendi, grandchildren Ryan, Steven, and Danielle, brother Tom (Diana) and stepbrother Randy, sister Lynn and stepsister Pam (Pat) as well as nieces and nephews Thomra, Emily, Carly, Susie, Greg, and Tommy. After a 33 year career in Electric Operations at PG&E, Dan retired to the foothills and spent much time hiking, fishing, kayaking, and backpacking in the Sierra Mountains where he found spiritual rejuvenation. Dan also spent many hours in volunteer service to such organizations as El Dorado National Forest Service, Pacific Crest Trail Association, and El Dorado County Senior Center. Dan always did what he considered to be the right thing even if it was the most difficult thing. He had a heart of gold and was always willing to help anyone at any time. He was a man of honor and a true gentleman. To those who loved him, Dan was an anchor in a stormy sea and he will be deeply missed. Memorial contributions may be made to Sierra Wildlife Rescue.
