Marshall F. Stone, at rest at home in Grizzly Flats, CA on July 29, 2011. Born in Dallas, Texas on November 7, 1929. Marshall was married to Margaret “Marge” Stone, the love of his life, for 60 years. Loving father of Marshall Patrick Stone of Placerville, Dennis Michael (Michele) Stone of Davis, Susan Marie (Alex) Bautista of Albany, NY, Robert Edward (Pam) Stone of Dixon, David Paul (Isabel) Stone of Elk Grove, Thomas Alan Stone of Placerville and the Late Joanne Patricia Stone. Brother of Patricia (Billy Ray) Taylor of Kaufman, Texas, Robert K. (Janie) Stone of Dallas, TX, Elmer G. (Dona) Stone of Rockwall, TX, Jerry F. (Carol) Stone of Allen, TX, Peggy Lee (Chuck) Perryman of Sarasota, FL and Joe and Jimmy Lochridge and the Late Bobbie Louise Maserole and the Late Jacqueline Parker. Devoted grandfather of 14 and great grandfather of 6. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Marshall was a Veteran of Korea with the Marines and Air Force before completing his Masters of Arts in 1958 from San Jose State University. He began teaching in 1957 at Castlemont H.S. in Oakland and then went on to teach and coach at Marina High School in San Lorenzo from 1964 to 1985. Marshall was on the City Council and served as Vice Mayor (for 2 years) in Union City from 1976 to 1980. Retiring after 28 years of teaching and coaching, Marshall and Margaret moved to Grizzly Flats in 1988 and he began his second career in Real Estate with Century 21 in Placerville. Marshall enjoyed fishing, golfing, gardening, music and woodworking, but mostly enjoyed his family.
A Funeral Mass and Rosary will begin on Friday, August 5th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 3109 Sacramento St., Placerville. Visitation will be held at the Chapel of the Pines Funeral Home, 2855 Cold Springs Rd., Placerville on Thursday evening from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment will follow the Mass at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Sacramento.
