On June 18, 2019, Mary Angela Robinson left for God, surrounded by love and family. Outgoing and powerful, Mary was born on New Year’s Day in 1931 in Weed (Yreka), California. She passed quietly at home in Placerville, a most beloved Mother, Grandmother, Godmother, Sister and Aunt. A resident of El Dorado County for nearly 85 years, Mary was a colorful part of the history and culture of Diamond Springs and Placerville, California. Born Maria Angela Brunello, a graduate of El Dorado High School, she married Eugene Robinson (d. 2004) in 1953.
Mary was the pillar of her family. As a young mother, she was also a businesswoman, running her own beauty salon in downtown Placerville for many years, and working alongside her husband Gene in many ventures. Mary will always be remembered as a world class cook as well as a world traveler. In a kitchen at family gatherings, she commanded a stove like a general, whether making roast turkey or handmade ravioli. Mary’s many travels included cruises to Alaska, the Panama Canal, and more. She traveled extensively in Europe including France, Italy, Scotland, England and Holland. In addition, she and her husband Gene Robinson went everywhere in their motor home for years.
Most important was Mary’s pivotal place in her family. Few people loved friends and family as deeply as Mary Robinson did, and this was her greatest truth. Mary is survived by her brothers Stephen Brunello and Aldo Brunello, and by her children Roy (and wife Cindy) , Lynn, and Nicole (Aaron), and Grandchildren, Jake (Veronica), Ryan (Sarah), Heather, Kenneth (Destiny), and great grandchildren, Kaylin, Victoria, Reed, Charlie, Beau, Austin, Ryder and Maddox. Mary is also lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews Andrea, Garrett, Tony, John, Angela, Amanda, Jennifer, Jeff and 12 great nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by husband Gene and her daughter Kathy.
A Rosary is scheduled for Friday, July 12 at 11:30 am with a Mass to follow at 12:00 noon, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 3109 Sacramento Street, Placerville, CA. Mary will be laid to rest next to her husband at Westwood Hills Memorial Park at a later date.
