Michael Jon Johnson passed away unexpectedly ,after a brief illness, on Sunday May 26th, at the age of 66 surrounded by family and friends.
Mike was born on October 11, 1946 in Carlton, Minnesota, attended Esko High School Esko, Minnesota. At a young age Mike set out on one of his life’s many adventures heading to Southern California and ultimately found his home in Northern California, where he met the love of his life and wife of 42 years Marilyn.
One of Mike’s proudest achievements was becoming a Fire Fighter/Paramedic. Mike was one of the first Paramedic’s in Northern California. Additionally, Mike managed the Fire Fighter’s Professional Rodeo, helped develop the ‘Toys for Tots’ program and found delight in dressing up as Santa Claus for the children. Mike was known for working cross word puzzles in ink, his quick wit, sense of humor and storytelling abilities which entertained his many friends. Mike retired from Santa Clara County Central Fire Protection District after 31 years of faithful service.
Mike is survived by his mother Astrid (Minnesota), wife Marilyn, sons David (Henderson, Nevada); Glenn (Campbell, Ca); daughter Beth Correa, son-in law Tony (Ceres, Ca); grandsons Nick Correa, USAF; Collin Johnson, granddaughter Cassie Terflinger-Johnson; brothers David, Tim, Scott; sisters Karen, Wendy, Patti and Donna and many nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his father Arnold Johnson, and Grandson Sean Michael Correa.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a Memorial Service on Tuesday, June 4th at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of the Pines Funeral Home, 2855 Cold Springs Rd., Placerville, CA. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Mike’s honor to the Pollock Pines Camino Community Center, P.O.Box 1195, Pollock Pines, CA 95726. Inurnment has been held.
