After several humorous attempts to escape her residence, Pat passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, February 4, 2014 with her children at her side. Pat was a resident of Diamond Springs, California, born in San Francisco, California and was a first generation Irish American, fourth child of Thomas and Mary Nerney. She is pre-deceased by husband John “Jack” A. Lambres, sister Mary Vernon, and brothers Tom and Billy Nerney. Pat is survived by her sister Kathleen Ryan, her brother Jack Nerney (Kathleen), and by her sister-in-law Jean Nerney. She is also survived by her children Paul Lambres of Sonoma, Claire Sternlicht (Mark) of San Francisco, and Vince Lambres (Connie) of Rescue, and by her loving grandsons Reid and Alec Lambres and Ryan Sternlicht. She also loved being Auntie “Tricia” to many nieces and nephews and extended family members.
Pat was raised in the Mission District of San Francisco, graduated Mission High School and attended San Francisco City College. She received her Associates Degree from American River College, Placerville. Jack and Pat co-owned the Hangtown Ski Hut with George and Marge Bessler. Pat was a teachers’ aide in the Mother Lode School District for more than 20 years. She was a resident of El Dorado County for more than 55 years.
Pat and Jack met on Donner Summit in the late forties, where they were later able to carry the Olympic Torch for the 1960 Squaw Valley Olympics. Their love and great memories of the Truckee/Donner Summit area continues with their children and grandchildren. Grandma “Rosie” was very proud of her three grandsons and enjoyed watching their ski races and their many accomplishments both on the slopes and in the classroom.
The family wishes to acknowledge with gratefulness, the kindness and compassion given to our mom by Snowline Hospice, Partners in Care and Gold Country Health Center. We also wish to thank her many friends and neighbors who supported and visited with her over the past few years.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Pat’s name to Snowline Hospice or Partners in Care.
A private family celebration will be held this summer at the annual family reunion where we will share stories and dance to her favorite song “Celebration” in her honor.
