Thomas James Taylor (known by his friends as Tom or Tommy) age 87, died on Friday, Nov. 2, 2018 surrounded by his family and caregivers. Tom was born on a ranch in Plymouth, Calif. on March 23, 1931 and shortly thereafter moved to El Dorado. Tom started his working career as a very young man. He worked at Caldor Lumber and Box Factory, picked lots of pears, drove logging trucks and finally settled at Placer Gas where he worked for his future father-in-law. In 1949 he married his wife Jean who predeceased him. Tom retired from Suburban Gas in 1994. Tom and Jean enjoyed traveling and were members of the Model A Club. Tom liked tinkering with his Model A and ’32 Chevy until his health kept him from doing so. Tom had a quick sense of humor and could always come up with a good joke. Tom is survived by his children Vicki Stockdale (Daryl) of Greenville, Calif. and Timothy Taylor of Placerville, Calif. his grandchildren Brian Stockdale (Joanna) April Watson (Jeff), Meghan Brown (Cameron) and great grandchildren, Owen and Paige Watson.
We would like to thank his caregivers at Hillcrest Home Care Facility for their loving care they gave dad and Vitas Hospice.
Services for Thomas will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018 at the Chapel of the Pines with a reception to follow at Fenton and Harriet’s.
