Virginia was born on May 8th, 1924 in Cook County, Chicago, Illinois to Lawrence and Alby Hunt.
In December of 1944, she met and married the love of her life, John Barnett, and in 1966, they moved to Placerville.
Virginia worked at the Old Placerville Wells Fargo bank and then, her favorite job, as the Ponderosa High School registrar where she prided herself in her ability to remember all the kids’ names. Both Virginia and John were active in the local VFW for many years and a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, in Placerville.
Her main hobby was always sewing, she enjoyed many hours making items for herself and her family. She loved learning to use all the latest computerized embroidery machines which helped to keep her mind sharp along with her computer.
Virginia is survived by her sons, John and Kevin; her daughter Terri; Grandsons, John, Jeff, Gregg Jr and Christopher; Granddaughters, Christine, Shawn, Jennifer and Nicole; Plus a wealth of extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; daughter, Jacqueline; son, Gregg Sr. and grandson Michael.

Virginia will be laid to rest on Friday, May 17th at 11:00am, with a reception for family and friends to follow at Chapel of the Pines.
