Angela Dawn Morton passed Monday May 27, 2013 - Memorial Day - in her home of 28 years surrounded by the love of family. Angela was born November 27, 1945 in England and lived in areas north of London until she married Alec James Morton and moved to the United States to live in Dallas and Plano, Texas. She raised two children, Andrew Charles Morton and Nichola Jane Morton (Nikki) and many animals in Plano.
Angela was always an avid lover of animals. She began riding horses as a girl in England, eventually joined pony clubs, rode through the English countryside with friends, and won many awards at equestrian events riding her horses Speedy and High Fashion.
She worked at John Lewis Department Store on Oxford Street in London in staff training and development prior to marrying. Six weeks after their marriage at the Radlett Parish Church in Radlett, England on July 5, 1968, Angela and Alec moved to America. Angela loved the horse companions and friends she met in Dallas, where she rode and cared for horses daily while also training young riders. Her passion for horses and riding was a constant in her life, something she experienced until the day before her passing.
She taught her own children and others how to love and respect horses and other animals that become a part of your life, home, and family. She was also passing those lessons on to her granddaughter, Jacelyn Dawn West (Jaci), whom she loved dearly. Angela bought a horse named Muffin just for Jaci and was teaching Jaci, her “little bit”, who appears to share her grandmother’s passion for animals, how to ride and love horses.
Angela loved deeply, compassionately, and genuinely. She was known for putting others first. Hers’ was a life that truly showed what it means to live your passions every day. She is remembered for her bright smile, little laugh, and her ability to "carry on" despite any circumstance. She was a woman of no complaints and so very tough, even through her battle with cancer. Her will power, fight, and drive combined with excellence in care for herself under the superb guidance of her oncologist gave her and her family three-and-a-half years of quality time together after her diagnosis.
We have been blessed by you Angela, and will miss you dearly. Thank you precious Mother, Wife, Grandmother, Sister, and Friend. Angela will not be forgotten. Her strength and quiet compassionate heart will be forever cherished.
Angela is survived by her husband Alec James Morton of Plano, son Andrew Charles Morton of Princeton, daughter Nichola Jane Morton and husband John Arensman West of Kemah, granddaughter Jacelyn Dawn West of Kemah, brother Michael John Burridge and wife Karen of Gainesville, Florida, nieces Monica Lisa Roberts and husband Brian of Alachua, Florida and Christina Michelle Sayers and husband Eric of Jonesville, Florida, grandnephews Chandler Fox, Nathan Fox, and Paxton Roberts of Alachua, Florida, and numerous other family friends.
