

Falvey Lennen Malarcher, Sr., 73, of Plano Texas passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at Plano Medical Center Hospital. Falvey was born May 15, 1940 in New Orleans, LA and then spent most of his childhood in Shreveport, LA. He married Mary Diane Daniel on December 26, 1963 in New Orleans, LA. He graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Physics and from Southern Methodist University with a Master’s of Science in Geophysics.
Falvey retired as a lieutenant from the US Navy reserves. He worked for Texas Instruments and Raytheon for 36 years and retired as a senior member of the technical staff.
Falvey’s interests and activities were primarily focused around his family and his faith. He served as a Eucharistic minister at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, an instructor and sponsor for RCIA, and a volunteer with the St. Michael’s Society. He also attended First Baptist Church of Plano with his wife and worked in the Community Garden ministry of First Baptist to donate the food grown there to a local Food Pantry. Falvey enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren living in the Dallas area. His favorite pastimes included writing letters to government officials, watching the birds and other wildlife that he could attract to his backyard, and fishing.
Falvey is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary Diane Malarcher of Plano Texas; son and daughter-in-law Falvey and Kati Malarcher; son and daughter-in-law Louis and Sandra Malarcher; son and daughter-in-law Casey and Ji Eun Malarcher; daughter and son-in-law Shawn Malarcher and Christopher Landis; and daughter and son-in-law Alethea and Tim McKelvey; grandchildren, Erin Malarcher, Zoe McKelvey, Gene Malarcher, Sean McKelvey, Lena Malarcher, and Sarah Malarcher; one brother-in-law Lee Givens; one sister, Lucile Malarcher; one brother and sister-in-law, Willy and Patricia Malarcher; and one sister-in-law, Beatrice Malarcher.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and two brothers.
A funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church of Plano with Dr. Jerry Carlisle officiating, Tuesday, September 24 at 10 am.
