Helen Clark passed away after a brief illness on December 7,2020 at the age of 96. She lived a rich life serving her Lord. Born in Bardolph, Illinois she was one of 6 children. Her father was a carpenter and traveling evangelist. She met her husband, Tom Clark, at Open Bible College and was married in 1949. She and Tom felt the call of God to serve Him as missionaries in 1950. They would serve as missionaries until 1984 in Liberia, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Trinidad, Papua New Guinea, and Haiti. The primary focus was translation of the Bible into the Soso dialect and biblical education of indigenous leaders. After their retirement, they served in church leadership in Lodi, California until they moved to Plano, Texas to be with family.
Tom passed away in August 2004 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Helen is survived by her brother, Glenn Heck, and her four sons, Andy, Tim, Steve, and Roger, 8 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
Helen's life was devoted to loving and worshiping her Lord and serving those around her. In her last years at the Park in Plano she focused her life on playing the piano for pleasure and for worship services, praying for others, reading her Bible, and seeking new ways to show God's love to other residents and staff. She will be deeply missed.
She will be laid to rest on December 17,2020 alongside her husband at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
