Joe Linden Blanton Jr., 59, of Wylie, Texas, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2024. He was born on August 14, 1964, in Taylor County, Texas. He grew up in Norman, Oklahoma and at 13 years old moved to Maud, Oklahoma. He graduated from Maud High School in 1982. Joe went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree in Cartography & Computer Science in 1990 from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma and a Master’s Degree in Computer Science in 1995 from University of Tulsa. Joe was a brilliant child who enjoyed school and always had a thirst for knowledge. He enjoyed math, government classes, and being on the debate team.
More than anything, Joe’s greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted family man, who wanted nothing more than to support and provide for his family. He adored his mother, and cherished the many vacations they were able to take together over the years. We are grateful for the love and care she put into raising the amazing man we all know today. He married Kristina Anderson (now Davis) in 1990 and together they had three beautiful children. Joe enjoyed being a father and a grandfather more than anything in the world. He adored his children and loved them beyond belief. Later in life, Joe reconnected with a childhood friend, Brenda, and they married on August 5, 2009. Joe and Brenda shared a special bond, filled with love, happiness, and laughter.
Joe worked as a Software Engineer for many years and was currently serving in that role as the Lead Principal Software Engineer at the Sierra Nevada Corporation out of Plano, Texas. Joe was truly a workaholic, simply because he was so passionate about his career. He was a hardworking man, who was respected by his peers. He was considered a genius by many, and his accomplishments throughout his career serve as proof of this.
In addition to his love for working and learning, Joe has a love for gaming and movies. He was a great collector of many things, including magic cards, comic books, stamps, and coins. Joe loved all things space and weather related. He was quite the weather predictor, and enjoyed studying it in great detail. He had a wonderful sense of humor and his presence could fill up a room. Joe always knew how to make everyone around him feel special and because of that was loved by everyone he knew. Joe was truly a good man, who left us far too soon. He will be greatly missed by all who love and know him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Linden Blanton Sr. of Nevada, Texas.
