Even though our lives went in different directions, I will always remember the good times with Larry. There will always be a special spot in my heart for him. We extend our deepest sympathy to Larry's family. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

My prayers and sympathy go out to Larry's entire family.  I have lots of fond family memories from when I was a little girl and Uncle Larry used to call me pork chop.

Our thoughts, sympathy and prayers are extended to Larry's family.  We have happy memories of Larry from years past.  We'll meet again, Larry, when the Lord calls us to join Him in our heavenly home.

My thoughts and prayers are with you Sue, and your family.  May you find peace and comfort in the Lord, and think on memories of Larry with joy.

Larry, the things I will remember most about you:
1. You would call your wife the most beautiful woman in the world. You described her as being as beautiful today as the day you met her. You credited her for raising up your sons to be such great men. We could see the love in your face when you talked about Sue. 
2. You were so proud of your boys. I would come into work and ask you advise on how to raise a then 4yo son of mine into loving and caring men like your boys. You would tell me that you regretted having to work so much when they were younger. Your voice would crack and your eyes would almost fill up when you talked about how you felt you didn’t spend enough time with them during those critical years when they were young. But despite that you would say, they turned out to be fine men and they love their dad so much. And you were so grateful for that. Then you would put your hand on my shoulder and say, spend as much time as you can with your little boy. Great advice from a dad of some great boys. 
3. You loved those grandchildren and your eyes would light when you talked about Libby. Everyone at work knew who Libby was. As I was writing this, I didn’t even have to look her name up. I knew it without looking because I can still hear you saying her name. You would tell us about all the sweet caring things she would tell you when you got sick and then your eyes would fill with tears. You told us of how protective she was of you and how she would be your personal nurse when she came over to visit. And how she used to put a blanket on your legs when you were sitting on the sofa so you wouldn’t be cold. She loved her grandpa. I know she will miss you lots. 
4. No matter how bad you were feeling, you would keep on working. The reviewers at our facilities loved you. They knew you by voice and when that voice started getting softer and softer they knew you were not feeling well. Even after you left work, they would ask how you were doing. They missed you too. One day, you were really not feeling well at all. I ask you if I could drive you home. And I knew what the answer would be before I even asked it….No. You were very determined not to inconvenience anyone and do things yourself. I asked if I could walk you to your car and of course the answer was again….No.  So without you knowing, I followed you from a distance till you got into your white truck and drove home. Some people leave work at the first sign of a sneeze. Not you Larry. It took a lot for you to leave work. You were determined to stay and work and provide for your family no matter how bad you were feeling. You worked hard for them till the very last days. 
5. You were a nurse when gloves were a luxury and boiling needles to sterilize them was the norm. You saw and did things as a nurse that I will never experience in my nursing career. I remember you telling me that when a man was dying on the battlefield, all he wanted was a glass of water and his mother. And so you gave many, many men their last glass of water. I would often say that you could probably still trach a man with blade and a pen casing if you had to today or do beautiful stiches going over railroad tracks. You met many famous men and women during your career as a psych nurse. Books and movies have been made about those men that you sat right next to on the unit and played cards with. Your stories would bring me chills when you told them.  What an amazing nursing career you had Larry. The nursing world has lost a great RN. 
6. And lastly, you loved everyone. And everyone loved you. 

Larry, I will miss you. Your Magellan family will miss you. It was an honor to be your team lead and work less than 5 feet from you everyday. They don’t make men like you anymore Larry. God apparently needs you in Heaven now Larry….not to stich someone up or work till you could work no more…but to rest. Rest in Him now Larry. And save me a spot up there Larry….less than 5 feet from you.

I can never think of Larry without smiling.  You will be well and truly missed.

WHEN I THINK OF LARRY I THINK OF HIS SWEET, KIND FACE AND LAUGHING, INTELLIGENT GREEN EYES.  HE HAD SUCH A RARE MIX OF GENTELNESS AND STRENGTH.  I WILL MISS LARRY.  I AM PRAYING FOR YOU, HIS FAMILY.  I KNOW HIS LOSS WILL BE VERY DIFFICULT AND PAINFUL.  I AM GLAD HE KNEW JESUS AS HIS SAVIOR AND IS WITH HIM NOW, PRAISING HIM WITH A NEW AND HEALTHY BODY.

My deepest thoughts and condolences  are with your family. I enjoyed  working with Larry at Magellan. He had the best  smile.

A great man, co-worker, and friend. Larry made a difference in my life because he had a light that shined from within. I will always smile when I think of you. Until we meet again my friend...

Larry Uecker was one of the finest people I ever had the honor of calling my friend. I will miss him but will remember all the fun and good work that he brought to my life, personally and professionally.
