Margaret Johnson was born December 4, 1936 to Emmitt Perry Johnson and Lelia Irene Bryant Johnson in Dallas Texas.
Her family moved to Kelsey Texas during WWII so that they could be closer to her mother’s relatives. She graduated from Gilmer High School. She then moved to Dallas and earned her degree from a two-year business school.
During that time, she met and married and then a year later was sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple to Melvin George Carroll. They had two children Kenneth Richard Carroll and William Charles Carroll. After four years of marriage her husband Melvin George Carroll was tragically killed in a car accident.
Years later she met and was married for 32 years to William Howard Franklin and was happy to help raise his son Doug. Margaret experienced yet another tragedy in her life when her son Kenneth lost his life as a young man in his 20s.
During her lifetime she volunteered countless hours in her church and in scouting. She also held full time positions in various professions. She always said that her best job was to help take care of her grandsons from the time they were born.
