

Mark spent his early years in Iowa and Germany. His family later moved to Central Texas, just prior to his secondary education schooling. Mark graduated from Killeen H.S. In 1978. Then, attended Tarleton State University, where he received a degree in agriculture in 1982. While in college, Mark was a member of the ROTC, which he enjoyed being a part of and he later supported and donated to their cause.
Upon completing college, Mark became a commissioned officer in the US Army. Mark was a dedicated and exceptional soldier who loved his country and sacrificed to serve his country. Mark served a total of 36 yrs of service, which included serving on active duty in the US Army, then as an Army reservist and later an Army National guardsman. Mark served both overseas and in State side, U.S. Mark’s overseas tours included Korea, Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait. Mark received a purple heart and bronze star for his outstanding service and injuries sustained while on active duty. Also, during his military career, Mark received numerous other awards and medals for his accomplishments and achievements.
After leaving active duty service Mark decided to pursue his other dreams and goals, he had as a civilian. Mark had a passion for computers, which he excelled at. Mark decided to go back to college and majored in Computer Science. It was during that time when Mark met his beloved wife, Treva Grice, in the fall of 1993 and they later married in 01/1996. Shortly afterwards in 1997, Mark graduated at the top of his class with honors, with his bachelor’s in computer science. He later returned to college to earn his master’s in computer science.
After graduating, Mark was employed by the State of Texas in Austin TX as a Computer Programmer/Analyst, and later worked for a data company called EDS, before finally working as a Computer programmer/Analyst and Computer Consultant on various Defense Contracts for the DOD overseas and in the U.S., state side. Mark finally retired from his Military service in 03/2022. One year later, he decided to retire from working in the civilian sector, in 03/2023.
In 04/2023, Mark decided to fulfill one of his lifelong bucket list tasks, which was to hike the Appalachian Trail. Mark was a very adventurous and energetic person, who loved the outdoors. Mark hiked over 350 miles, through the states of: Georgia, N. Carolina and the Tennessee Smokey Mountains, before he was forced to end his hike and return home in 05/2023. He was proud of the distance that he had accomplished on the trail.
While at home, in Mark’s spare time, he enjoyed operating his Ham Radios and spending time with his wife. Mark was very involved with and volunteered a lot of time with the North Texas Ham Radio Club. He was an avid reader and enjoyed learning new subjects. Also, Mark enjoyed traveling to see the world, going on cruises and visiting family.
Mark was a very loving husband and took very good care of his wife, Treva. He was a true “Handyman”, who could fix anything! He will be greatly missed and life will not be the same without him, for all who loved and knew Mark.
Left to cherish Mark’s memory is his devoted and beloved wife, Treva, his special mother in law, Deborah Mack, his father Peter Rollings, a brother Matthew Frances, Aunt Diane Jones, Uncle Doug Selby, special cousins, Jill and Jodi and several other family members including numerous cousins, ham radio friends, military friends and numerous other friends.
Mark was preceded in death by his Paternal Grandmother Mildred Rollings , Maternal Grandmother Virginia Danielsen, Paternal Grandfather Leo Rollings , Maternal Grandfather Herbert Selby, Mother Dale Rhea and Step-father, Clinton Rhea. Mark was also preceded in death by his three beloved children: Angel, Sierra and Precious. Whom he loved all so very dearly and is now reunited with them in eternity.
Mark departed this life as a born-again believer saved by the Grace of God.
Although we gather to say goodbye to Mark, we know that because of his confession, he is Absent from his earthly body, but very much present with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024 from 10:30AM-11:30AM at Ted Dickey Funeral Home, 2128 18th St Plano, TX 75074. A funeral service will follow at 11:30AM, also at the Funeral Home. Burial with US Army Military Honors will ensue at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
