

Dennis, as called by his loved ones, was born in Yakima, Washington on December 19, 1943 to James and Marian (nee Udder) Worrell. He enlisted in the United States Army at a young age and served in Vietnam. Following his enlistment, he received a bachelor’s degree from Cameron University in Oklahoma and a Master’s Degree from Golden Gate University.
Dennis married Mary Lou Sifuentes, on May 27, 1972, in Fort Sill, Oklahoma whom he loved and cherished for 53 years. His commitment to love, protect and care for Mary was one of the greatest hallmarks of his life.
Dennis was beloved by all that knew him and was admired by everyone that ever met him. His strong values were evident in his daily life. He dedicated his life to serving God, his country, and his family. Dennis proudly served in the U.S. Army for 25 years. After retirement from the Army, Dennis’ commitment led him back to service in the United States Army as a defense contractor where he spent another 15 years training soldiers on military technology.
After traveling the world with his family through his military service, Dennis and his family settled in Plano, Texas where he enjoyed hosting family pool parties, playing cards, drinking wine, and traveling with his wife, Mary. After his daughter attended the University of Texas, Dennis became an avid Texas Longhorns fan. Eventually, Dennis even started rooting for the Dallas Cowboys.
Dennis was kind, compassionate, strong and playful. He imparted the importance of finding purpose and meaning in your work and life to everyone who knew him. He showed his family that when you believe in what you do, your work isn’t just a job, it is a calling. Despite having so much loss in his life at an early age, Dennis never dwelled in the past. To Dennis, every day was a new opportunity to grow, learn, and experience joy. He always wanted his loved ones to learn from his example.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents (James and Marian Worrell) and his two older brothers (Ronald Worrell and Duane Worrell). He was also preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law (Manuel and Margarita Sifuentes), sister-in-law (Sandra Hibbits), sister-in-law (Teresa Heinen), brother-in-law, (Jerry Sifuentes).
Dennis is survived by his wife, Mary Worrell; his daughter, Christina Worrell Adkins and husband Michael of Austin, Texas; his son, Richard Dennis Worrell, Jr. and wife Victoria of Lynnwood, Washington; granddaughters Ryan Adkins and Elizabeth Adkins of Austin, Texas; granddaughters Leah Worrell of Yakima, Washington and Nicole Lujan of Lynnwood, Washington. Dennis is also survived by his brother in law John Manuel Sifuentes and his wife Christine of Grapevine, Texas; sister-in-law, Agnes Fisher and her husband Rob of Wichita Falls; sister-in-law Marcy Dombkowski and her husband John of The Colony, Texas and brother-in-law Joey Sifuentes of New York City, New York, as well as a numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Richard Dennis Worrell was a man of honor, perseverance, loyalty and love. He was deeply loved and will be missed by all that knew him.
