Raised on a farm, in Saskatchewan,
Mum tied empty syrup cans around their waists,
for swimming lessons in the pond.
As a boy,
found cows that were lost, running barefoot through thorny pastures,
yelling "come boss".
Dad holding a pitchfork thrashing the hay,
Boys stomping it down, no time to play.
Stones to be picked from the ground before night,
a nudge from behind - "You're burning daylight!"
Older sister Mabel, at 19 said to go,
interview for Northern Electric (Nortel),
in Tor..Ron .to.
Adventure it was, almost 46 years,
made many friends and drank a few beers.
Settled down in Texas,
raised his fam-i-ly,
working long hours,
for this phone company.
Loved family and friends,
best years - kids still young, riding bikes, Hide and Seek and so much more fun!
Was lonely inside, fell in love with Vicki,
20 years past, all meant to be.
Role model for all,
no unkindness or grudges, whistled with birds,
teased with nudges.
Combined farm harvests with delight,
Sometimes even into the night.
Loved grandkids sports and recitals,
taught them golf and many life vitals.
No words can capture the true essence of Ron Forden,
the Divine Mercy of Jesus is his eternal Warden.
