

He was born in Memphis, Tennessee and graduated from the University of Tennessee with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. He worked for several years as a software engineer in the telecom industry in North Texas.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, William Arnold Carter and Marie Carberry, and his brother Bill. He is survived by his wife, Colleen Forsyth Carter, his sister, Mary Ann Wells, three children from his previous marriage to Carolyn Ruth Jones, Dwain Carter, Lesa DeLong and Catherine Carter, and three grandchildren, Madison DeLong, Alexander del Corral, and Abigail del Corral.
Walter was a kind and considerate man with a good sense of humor, a quick smile and a gentle laugh. His favorite hobbies were fishing and building & flying radio-controlled sailplanes.
A service will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 2:00 PM at St. Jude Catholic Church in Allen, located at 1515 North Greenville Avenue, Allen, Texas 75002.
A reception will be held at the church following the service.
Ted Dickey Funeral Home in Plano, Texas has charge of arrangements.
