She was born in Pisgah, Alabama on August 22, 1948 to Elbert William Pope and Johnnie Lorene Pope. She graduated from Turkey Creek High School in 1967. She married her high school sweetheart Julian Womble in 1967. They moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado while dad was in the Army and they had their two eldest children. After his service, they moved back to Plant City, Florida where they settled in for life and had two more children. She began working at GTE phone company and retired after 32 years. Loretta was a hardworking mother who worked countless hours of overtime through the years to give her family the best life she knew how. She was a loving and supportive wife, mother, sister, and aunt to everyone. She was funny and kind but also spicy at times, which we all found enduring. She loved doing cross-stitching in her younger days. She also loved a good poker game with her extended family when they visited often, and enjoyed going to casinos with her husband and adult children over the years. She was a member of the Auxiliary Committee at the Plant City Legion Hall for over 10 years where she enjoyed Saturday night Bingo. She also enjoyed her travels on vacations with her family, and she would travel to the annual Vietnam Reunions with her husband over the years. She was so loved by everyone she knew and she truly loved them back. She will be forever missed. No doubt she was welcomed with open arms again by her husband and daughter she longed to see again.
A visitation for Loretta will be held Sunday, September 7, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Wells Memorial Funeral Home, 1903 West Reynolds Street, Plant City, Florida 33563, followed by a funeral service at 4:00 p.m.
